Cupid’s Valentine Heart Brownies

Bake up a batch in your Ninja convection oven!

Servings: 24 brownie hearts or 12 brownies

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 45-50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter (½ lb)
  • 4 oz dark or semi-sweet baking chocolate, broken into squares (¼ lb)
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder (optional)
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ¾ teaspoons salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • cup all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder

Directions

1) Preheat oven to 350F (330F for convection oven or Ninja air fryer oven).

2) Use a double boiler (or a medium steel bowl placed snugly in a medium saucepan containing an inch or so of boiling water) to melt 2 sticks unsalted butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in 4 oz chocolate (and 1 tsp instant coffee powder).

3) In a large bowl, whisk together 1½ cups granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons light brown sugar, ¾ teaspoon salt, 2 large eggs, 2 large egg yolks, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract until smooth. Slowly whisk in melted butter mixture until well combined.

4) Sift ⅔ cup all purpose flour and ¾ cup cocoa powder into the chocolate mixture. Stir with a spatula until combined. Pour batter to fully (or nearly fully) fill heart-shaped baking tray cups (or use a 9 by 9 inch baking pan lined with parchment paper and lightly spritzed with non-stick cooking spray).

5) Bake for 45-50 minutes. Brownies should be set and crackly, but still moist while hot from the oven.

6) Allow brownies to cool completely. Remove brownies from baking tray (if using a baking pan, lift by the parchment paper sling, then cut into pieces). Serve.

Note: allow silicone bakeware to cool before refilling.
